Klozur® CR is the newest environmental product manufactured by FMC.Based on a combination of research and development in FMC laboratories and field refinement by ChemRem in alliance with FMC, remediation consultants and contractor, Klozur® CR offers features and benefits property owners, engineers, and remediation contractors alike can appreciate.CR (representing “Combined Remedy”) is a powder consisting of Klozur®sodium persulfate and PermeOx® Plus, a peroxygen activation chemical, that is used to 1) conduct rapid, cost-effective in-situ or ex-situ chemical oxidation of soil and groundwater, and 2) promote aerobic bioremediation in,and hydraulically down gradient of, the area of CR application. The 45-pound (6.5 gallons) plastic vented pales are typically shipped in pallets of 36 pales.The powder is applied directly to the soil, mixed into soil, or converted into aqueous slurry and distributed through the subsurface using direct push rods or temporary/ permanent wells.The field-tested formulation promotes activation of the persulfate anion to the sulfate free radical (SO4*) without additional mixing and labor.PermeOx® Plus decomposes in contact with moisture to produce alkalinity and hydrogen peroxide with calcium hydroxide as a byproduct.The pH will rise and when it exceeds approximately 10.0 the persulfate anionsconvert to free radical state.The hydrogen peroxide will degrade into oxygen at pH greater than 7.
Base or high pH activation, invented by FMC, produces conditions conducive to the destruction of a very wide range of contaminants.When you purchase Klozur® CR you are granted the right to use, at no extra charge, FMC patent pending activation chemistry based on high pH.FMC only asks that you use Klozur® branded products when utilizing FMC intellectual property.

Besides decomposition of target organic compound(s), one can expect some degree of natural organic matter decomposition.The by-products of the decomposition and other reactions are typically conducive to enhanced bioremediation: sulfate, oxygen, calcium, water and molecular fragments of molecules otherwise too large, complex or recalcitrant to be readily assimilated via natural biological action.These by-products can provide a short-term boost to increasing microbial assimilative capacity.To extend the period of enhanced aerobic biodegradation post CR application, the timed-release oxygen product PermeOx® Plus can be used.
